Design colleges in the south or west?

I’d like to go to college somewhere warm all year round (a little sick of the michigan winters). I’d really like to go for Graphic Design or Photography (both if possible). I’m kinda looking into Texas and oddly enough I prefer not to go to Florida or California. Does anyone know pretty good design colleges?

there are three colleges in texas that offer BOTH graphic design AND photography:

St. Edward’s University
Austin, TX

Texas Christian University
Fort Worth, TX

University of Houston
Houston, TX

here is the college in arizona that offers both majors as well:

Art Center Design College
Tucson, AZ

i hope you realize how hot those two states are! i would definitely choose florida or california over texas (or arizona), they are wayyyy too hot! you cant even go outside when its 113 degrees outside! just trying to help :)

Good journalism and graphic design colleges?

Im a junior in high school and i’m really interested in graphic design and journalism. I have been getting information on many colleges but I really want to know what the best colleges for journalism and graphic design are. Also I don’t have a stand out GPA, however it is decent, so what colleges should I consider?

The following are top competitors in journalism and design:
Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania has an excellent program that competes nationally with other colleges. They have Spectrum Magazine, which has been in production since 1987. I was the art director for Spectrum for 2 years. We won numerous awards from The Society of Profession Journalism, Columbia Scholastic Press and American Scholastic Press Association.
We competed with many of the top schools in the nation. I know we competed with Ball State, Kent State and Ohio State. I have been off the magazine for 2 years now and the competitors evade me but check out
The Society of Professional Journalism’s Mark of Excellence Aware Winners at this address: http://www.spj.org/a-moe.asp
and
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Awards at this address: http://cspa.columbia.edu/docs/contests-and-critiques/gold-circle-awards/recipients/index.html

Oh also, here’s some links to the Mass Comm programs at the colleges I mentioned:

Good luck!
